I’ve gotten vaccines while visiting my mom. Never had an issue. Never heard of states requiring residency. Why would they do that? They get paid by the insurance or you just the same.

Because it would be a separate initiative from the rest of the country. They'd be administering vaccines despite what the federal govt wants. If these states are pooling their own resources to keep their residents healthy, residents from other states should have to wait, or join the initiative.

Again, no reason to do so. Either the insurance company would pay if the person would pay. And there has been no discussion of doing so.

That depends on your state. In NJ anyone is able to get a COVID vaccination free. Whether you have insurance or not

That may well change after the next week. Governors of all the mid Atlantic and NE states (except NH) are working to get a regional recommendation and distribution to make sure that happens. But, again, supply may well be reduced by this “administration.”

And I haven’t seen anything that says that if insurance refuses to pay that you can get it free. CVS is stating it will be $200.

Since the states are buying their own vaccines, they might be limited to just residents. I hope they order extra for neighboring states, but there's no guarantee. I read that for Medicaid/Medicare, it'll likely be a court battle over which guidance to follow and if they have to pay. 😞

States have always bought their own vaccines. Which is why Larry Hogan had to send the National Guard to make sure they weren’t stolen AGAIN after he got them from Korea. The “government” had literally stolen at least one (maybe 2) distributions. And Maryland wasn’t the only state.

The concern is that red states won't buy ANY covid vaccines. The blue states are going directly to the distributors for their specific states, not the whole country. Why would Maine buy enough vaccines for their population of citizens and then let out of staters come use half of them, you know?

They always have. Because either the insurance will pay or the individual will, so I see no reason to deny someone who is being prevented by their state from getting one. And we’re also not talking about red states, we’re discussing New Hampshire. And “red” people from red states are not going to

Get it anyway. Those who cross state lines will be the “blue” people from the red states. Why would you punish them?

I'm not suggesting punishing anyone, I'm stating what I read about this. It's not going to be how it is right now. Nothing is going to be covered by any insurance the same way or cost the same amount out of pocket. The state leaders are expressing these concerns. I'm not making it up.

Insurance companies will pay for those the APIC recommends. Insurance MAY pay for others. If not, they will have to pay out of pocket. That includes me. The issue is not who pays, it’s ACCESS.

Perhaps you should take this up with the leaders that have made the statements I'm relaying to you. They seem to think money and access, as well as insurance not paying, are all issues.

Which has nothing to do with the topic being discussed, which is regional leaders trying to guarantee access and availability. They don’t really have much control over insurance companies or costs.

They said it will end up in court because of federal vs state coverage mandates. States absolutely can and do have different insurance coverage mandates/control than the federal govt.

In fact, I know people who have doctors they see regularly in another state. And they have never had issues getting vaccinations in that state.

No. You brought up a hypothetical situation that has never happened and isn’t going to happen now.
