Definitely could be just seems like his care team would be aware of it showing, something covered by his clothes seems like it would make more sense. But clearly something is being poorly concealed.

Probably anticoagulants. I’d guess he had a DVT, has post-thrombotic CVI, which would explain the ankles and bruising. Just my guess
