I wonder if that is due to climate warming. I've noticed far more butterflies than usual this year, particularly Red Admirals (who like our Michaelmas daisies) and small whites.

Quite the opposite 800+ miles away on the East Sussex coast with few butterflies on most days, after a severely prolonged spell of dry weather, only broken by appreciable showers in the past 36 hours.

Shame, the Michaelmas daisies were covered with red admirals yet again today.

😢 here on the E Sx coast far fewer Red Admirals this year. Prolonged hot dry spell & now the ‘monsoon’ season.
