They threaten to, and some do, and all regret it or chicken out. As someone from MO can tell you, red states aren't far off from 3rd world countries. There's a reason every place he listed is deeply blue.

As a native Missourian who escaped almost 30 years ago, but returned many times over the years to visit trapped unchosen family, I can confirm its devolution to one of the worst places in the country. There are some lovely people there no doubt, and to those I say, abandon hope for MO and leave.

It took me 3 years working in Missouri to save the 1200 I needed to move to Colorado's economy from Missouri and then I was able to save 3000 in 6 months working a seasonal Colorado min wage job. People I knew in Missouri acted like this info was heresy

Why did they consider it heresy? Also - pretty impressive. I should acknowledge that my ability to move out here and establish a life was b/c I started my career in the 90s, was able to buy home before crisis & only responsible for me. My rent did double from $300 - $600/mo when I moved here (!!!)

Just was this general misguided work-ethic pride where I came from. It wasnt welcome dialogue to think our labor was worth more than our bosses were willing to pay. Talking about some other state that gave the freedom to save more check to check than ours was seen as biting the hand that feeds

I feel like my original comment was pretty flippant - many would move if they had means to, I'm sure. Still though, if I was in same position now, I'd do whatever I had to, to get the fuck out. Even when I left it felt like matter of life & death for me, could see direction the state was headed in.

Same. I left Ohio 15 years ago bc of the direction the state was heading and it's only gotten worse. Like they looked at the worst parts of WV, Indiana and Kentucky and thought - let's do that here.

I've lived in Ohio for 40+ years. It's gotten worse. I'm leaving it in November. Republicans just censored our professors with SB1, not to mention they're EXTREMELY corrupt (IE: first energy). I could go on, but it's more that I'm leaving red "values" behind. Fuck immoral stupidity.
