Just about everyone seems to have a lotta big feelings about Cracker Barrel these days, but has anyone actually eaten at one recently? I decided to check it out for myself. Take a gander: www.washingtonpost.com/food/2025/08...

PS: I find it sad that it is modernizing. When I went there (a few times), I liked the 'old country' charm.
Many yrs ago, about 2014, I, a 🇨🇦, was visiting folks in the States & we went to a Cracker Barrel a few times. I really enjoyed it & even bought a few coffee mugs, which I still enjoy. I found it novel & unique. Sadly, since Drumpf (his real name) became Pres., I WON'T be returning to the States.
Why?
I didn't know "just about everyone" had big feelings. If a bunch of RWNJ chuds hadn't made it a thing, and the media didn't pander to that demo, it would have been noticed like every other mediocre chain restaurant rebrand: not at all.
The one thing I remember about the one time I ate at Cracker Barrel is that the tomato slice in my sandwich had the sticker on it still. Apart from that, I don't even remember if it was good or bad.
I eat at Cracker Barrel pretty regularly; I couldn’t care less about a logo change.
Paywalled
I actually did about 3 weeks ago as a friend wanted to. Food was "ok". Not great, not bad, just "there".
So basically nothing changed. I would be ashamed if the only thing I can identify my childhood with is an occasional meal at a chain restaurant.
I find it strange that even rearranging the store has triggered people when the majority of customers at Cracker Barrel are over 55, many with mobility issues and you couldn't walk through without navigating a bottleneck of people. I don't know how people on a walker or in a wheelchair did it.
Mediocre at best.
Tangentially related, but I think if MSNBC wants to attract a new audience with its rebrand, they might consider this?
I love a crossover event
This is the dumbest controversy maybe ever. If modernizing decor offends you, don’t eat there.
That are know for the cleanest restrooms, when you’re on the road with kids.
I didn't even know that it was still in business.
Once was enough to know the food was terrible.
It’s disgusting. A cross between school cafeteria food and my great aunt’s Sunday dinner.
Never been.
