You are kinder than me.I had my boy's started on my musical catalog from lullabies and had them in guitar & piano lessons by 3rd grade..Fortunately, they love/d it-would never have forced them (and have turned me on to some music). Few things better than when they're home jamming together for hours.
She did have her liberal arts student Joy Division/Smiths era, and in school she played clarinet, from 4th grade to senior year of college. I told her she could use my bassoon if she wanted to try another instrument, but wasn’t interested. Bought her a ukulele and it’s still in our house.
You shld pick it up & start strumming. My boys both play Uke- they formed duo for school open mic's called "Uke Til U Puke" Far prefer the acoustic & keys-though my youngest is also very hot for his Stratocaster-but breaking out the uke's sometimes is easy & a nice change up. I play keys-but poorly.
I play keyboards and woodwinds, been spending most of my time lately playing sax and composing (BA in Music Comp). I suck at string instruments because I only know how to play right handed instruments left handed, in other words, upside down and backwards.
We currently have 4 dogs and 2 cats, I've toyed with a harmonica and a banjo, and they were... NOT very appreciative of my efforts.
This is Pepper, she loves when I play piano and sometimes joins me to create pieces for 6 hands 🤣 When I play sax she’s interested but she can’t play it, so she prefers the piano.

This is Buddy and Maddie. Buddy (grey) is Maddie's cat, we always get pets for our pets. I've since replaced the blanket with a bed. 😁

Both cats whine, 2 dogs sing and 1 tries to "help". The 4th is a chihuahua/dachshund mix, so we all stay out of his way.
Chihuahua/dachshund mix singing - staying out of the way..sounds like a wise choice. My sister and brother-in-law have a fur baby family and their house can sometimes sound like an elementary school band practice.

That does sound great! Neither my wife nor I wanted kids, we're both the eldest of large families, and I'm pretty sure that may have had something to do with why. As for music, I wanted to play the bass, my parents insisted on piano and I never practiced. I'm much better at listening than playing
I was always so jealous of ppl that played the guitar growing up b/c they'd just carry one on their back everywhere & be able to gather a crowd in the park, at the airport, etc...and bring some happiness - that I vowed to myself that I would have kids that would be those guitar kids. #Manifesting.
One of my younger brothers has always played and is still at it. Never had kids, but all my brothers loved the Dead, Clapton, Blues, etc etc. He'd quit a dozen times, mom drove him batshit. I kept feeding him good music, and not to be crass, but I always told him the guitar would get him laid. 😱🤣💪

HA! We met on Match and chatted and talked a lot before meeting. When I moved out of the city I tried to act like a grown up. Tried... Home Giants game the day after our 1st date, we were both going to be there. friends and I had a generational tailgate that we inherited from our fathers. 1/
Friends/brothers thought I was crazy but my attitude was, might as well let her see me in all my "glory" so I told her where me tailgate. I was VERY drunk and even higher at 10 am on a Sunday... She's a university professor with a PHD, you'd think she'd be smarter, but we've been married 17 years.
