The teachers who qualify for PSLF are going to be the ones working in low-income areas that tend to skew black and brown. Specifically in education it's going to be teach for America that he's going after, but also schools like Magic City Acceptance Academy in AL.

All public school teachers qualify for PSLF. You don't have to be at any particular kind of school. Just have to work for a school district.

I work in a Title I district in rural Maine. Many of my colleagues may be affected.

The crazy thing is, You have to make 10 years of qualifying payments to get loan forgiveness which means most people who qualify have already paid the majority of the principle of their loan. And now they're going to find they took lower salaries for 10 years to get stiffed.

As someone who has made 8.5 years of payments I find this not great.

I'm at 94 qualifying payments here. It is sub-optimal.
