Before ACA, if you didn’t have insurance through job, Medicaid or Medicare, you were screwed. If you bought insurance as individual, no coverage for preexisting conditions if you got sick, no renewal of your policy. Annual & lifetime caps that you could exceed with one operation. 2/

No staying on parents’ policy until 26 yo. No 100% coverage of preventive care. Pre-COBRA (we got that thanks to Clinton) even worse: you could get good job with good insurance and not be covered for 6 month waiting period for preexisting conditions. Insurance sucks. Not having it is worse. 3/

There is no Repub in Congress that has proposed anything since ACA that would make life better for anyone. We need Medicare for anyone who wants it; need all 3 branches to be Dem and either break filibuster or have 60 Dem Senators to get it done. End

No problem. I think it’s good to have historical perspective. Health insurance started out tied to employment which was first mistake. Wish we could re-design whole system. But ACA was way to improve an unfair imperfect system & enabled millions of uninsured to get coverage. Repubs will eff that up.
