The general trend of the industry has been slowly walking back from jumbos and back towards single-aisles, simply to save on fuel costs, but I think the ideal airliner would basically be a Spruce Goose with 4 GE90s.

As the world makes an unnerving trend towards Yarvinist minarchy, many industries are gonna need to learn how to breathe without subsidies, especially since many of them are spurring that trend itself.

For example, there's yet to be a true "Private space agency" I wager, the big names like SpaceX and Blue Origin basically convert taxes to profit, some firms like Rocket Lab are more freestanding but still typically use government infrastructure.
