Because they worked in very different ways at very different scales and had very different consequences. Using an analogy that doesn't actually fit the present moment is more likely to lead to bad decisions.
if you see somebody getting stabbed repeatedly, and the person getting stabbed erroneously says "help! this guy is shooting me! he's gonna shoot you next!" are you gonna stop and say "well actually the killer is using a knife" or are you gonna understand a murder is happening and try to prevent it?
I get it. You're well read. You probably went to school and have a degree. You're on reddit alot. You don't have to be a pedant. Nobody cares about you flexing your intellectual muscles. Somebody is trying to speak about a big fucking problem and you're diverting from that to be a terminology cop.
I'd like to note that (a) you're dismissing expertise in a thread about defending the importance of expertise, and (b) you jumped into a thread that ended more than a week ago to yell at me about wasting time
How about you use that time and energy you're wasting on being the "well actually" nerd and do something helpful with that big brain of yours?
