It’s fascinating to me that folks will reflexively say things online they would never say to people in person. I’ve been guilty of the same thing, but try to remember that there may still be some grace for all of us in practicing being more thoughtful and considerate about how we express ourselves.

Frankly, I have trouble these days thinking about a progressive future only because the task now includes reversing all the regressive policies and actions we now see unfolding. Stopping this emerging catastrophe is higher on my hierarchy of needs than is the precise nature of what goes forward.

You cannot return to a status quo that brought you to this moment. You must seek a path forward. The way backward has been blocked off. We are passed the point of no return.

I find that view to be credible. Don’t know if we can ever undo this. But let’s all keep up posting at each other over tangential shit, do we never get it together enough to deal with the real enemy - the concentration of personal and corporate wealth and their lack of accountability.

Way too complex for this character limit. But I see social democratic systems with robust safety nets as a better alternative than our corporate socialism wanna be system. Certainly better than totalitarian or government run economies. There is no system not subject to all the flaws humans possess.
