I believe I read somewhere where this is not the first time this has happened at that camp. I believe, not that many years ago, they had a similar flood that killed campers. I can’t remember where I read that.

The camp has been there almost 100 years. It floods periodically. I think the last time people died there in a flood was in the late 1980s.
I’ll have to find where I read that. It was a woman that commented on a FB post that said her relative lost a child from that same camp from a flood. I thought she said it was within the last five years. Maybe she was making it up, who knows. Sad regardless 😞
Yes, there was an article this morning that said it has flooded several times in the past, leading to campers dying. The army Corp of engineers said it was unsafe to have the camp there. Texas ignored their warnings.
OMFG! This is so horrible.
And still no warning system was in place? How'd the camp even get licensed or insurance coverage? Oh wait, lives don't matter
I have no clue about the answers to your questions. I do know that accurate weather info was sent to county and municipal officials. And I know the terrain of that area makes it difficult to know if a flood would be one inch or 30 inches.
It's time to push for these communities to build a warning system
You’d think they would have been sued the first time campers died and either shut down or forced to move.
