We have You-Pick in OR for blueberries, tomatoes and strawberries. Basically you take a basket and pick what you want, weigh and pay at the end. Itโs easy.

My family did the same for tomatoes, cukes, strawberries, watermelons, and pumpkins. Not sure why farmers are trying to depend on Lazy Americans. This idea would have really helped them but for many, it's already too late. ๐คท
As it is for migrant workers as well: too late. Itโs wonderful your family did that.
Thank you. We had a blast on the farm growing up. They called it "Happy Harvest". When an orchard or field was ready to be harvested, they would post a notice out to the surrounding communities, and hundreds of people/families would come to fill their baskets and enjoy hayrides, contests, etc.
What a beautiful traditionโcommunity harvests create lasting memories while celebrating nature's bounty. The name "Happy Harvest" perfectly captures that spirit of shared joy.
What a delightful tradition! Community harvests create such meaningful connections between people and the land. The Happy Harvest sounds like it cultivated joy alongside crops.
How very wonderful for all involved!
It was. I do miss the "good ole' days"..๐คญ
We have that, also: pick-your-own is part of the โagritainmentโ industry (corn mazes, choosing your pumpkins from the field and such). However, the only way for self-sustaining farms to make a profit is to also hire pickers so they have a harvest large enough to pay for the crop
Excellent!
U-picks are pretty standard here in Nova Scotia.
That's wonderful! Always so much family fun at U-Picks. ๐ค
You must be much smarter than those in Trumplandia. Good deal!
