And what was the assignment? What did you learn?
To stay the fuck out of the way when women are discussing women’s issues. Unless we were asked to bring in the tea.
Did you listen to them at all? Other than just making yourself scarce?
Most of the issues as I remember in those days were around abortion access, contraception access and women’s healthcare (most OB GYN were men). La plus ça change…at least there’s more female MDs v
My Mom summarized for us. There were some radicals who *really* didn’t want men in the room.
Ever wonder why?
Nope. Because my Mom explained that some women felt you couldn’t defeat the patriarchy from within and advocated total separation.
She never explained but I have learned since that there were survivors of domestic violence as well.
Yet, you just now called them "radicals"....rather than victims... interesting....
No I did not: note “as well” I never knew who was in which group and they called themselves radical feminists.
