yeah the last dj rig i owned was a pair of 400s and a djm 800. i sold it before i moved to philly like 7 years ago and never replaced it. i did curb score a working numark ns7 which i’m super stoked about because i had one as a kid, but none of the drivers work with apple silicon.

I just remembered I have a set of 400’s in my basement. The CD drive is messed up on one but I was able to convert the Serato time code to MP3 and used a thumb drive to run it. Those were great little tables!

yeah i hate pioneer because they locked themselves in as industry standard and charge outrageous money for glorified mp3 players but they do build solid products. i bought the 400s used and put them through hell and they never gave me any trouble.

omfg that thing is $1600?! i built my whole studio with an M4 mac mini for less than that. no joke, my computer, monitors, displays, desk, ableton license, and chair was like $1500 all in. isn’t a damn XDJ cheaper than that?!

The M4 Mini is an AMAZING value! I got one a few months back. Got the monitor and keyboard/mouse all used for like $165 off marketplace I think the xdj is like $7-800 I can’t remember. I just like its small form and built in screen, trying to slim my belongings down

thanks! yeah, silly cheap. the desk was like $120 on amazon, i got the m-audio 8” monitors for $200 for the pair, the displays were like $20 each, the mac mini was like $700 with the RAM upgrade, the mic was $90, chair was like $90, and i got a discount ableton license for $250, less than one CDJ.

My brother got the Alesis monitors for free so he kicked them down to me, they sound pretty good. One of center cones was dented but I was able to order a new one and replace it! Never did a speaker repair like that, it was easier than I imagined

i’m tuned out of the dj world lol i’ve just been focused on producing. i stopped touring with my last alias 10 years ago and haven’t been spinning much at all since then. i wanna scoop an flx4 or whatever just to practice mixing and get more confident but i haven’t had a job in over a year now lol

you’ve got cool ideas there! honestly it’s all ear training at a certain point. the mix is really what makes the track in many cases and that literally just comes with ear training over time. you’ve got some cool ideas and your structure is fine, now it’s just practice and messing with compressors.
