Daxter had an X-Ray. They found a bullet fragment in his body. I've had him for 9 years and never knew. The rescue didn't know his history, just that he was two and had trauma. When I found out today, I broke down at the thought of it. Human cruelty baffles me. I'm just glad we saved each other.

My daughter rescued a female great Dane and her puppy son. Somebody had filed her teeth down, and she had gun pellets on top of her head. She was used for breeding and discarded to die on the streets. She was in horrible condition. It took almost two years to get her healthy. She is thriving now ❤️❤️🩹❤️

We found a surprise bullet in my cat, Steven, when we took him in for an X-ray of his lungs. The whole bullet. Dented and bent, even. We adopted him as a tiny kitten and he's always been indoors. Idk how he survived, but I'm so grateful that he did.

Your pup looks so sweet. I’m glad he found you! My sweet little girl was taken from her mother and abandoned with her 2 brothers at 3 weeks of age. Thank goodness a rescue group found them and got them ready to head north to a kill free state and we found her. She is the sweetest little imp!
I adopted my dog when she was around 1 year and she too had a bullet (bb gun) in her belly skin, which was left there and shows a permanent grayish scar. It really is crazy how that can even happen. But I'm just glad your dog and mine are in good hands now. 💙😭

Our sweet boy made lots of weird noises when we got him. We took him to a specialist who did a CT and told me he had been shot in the face with a shotgun. His nasal passage is completely closed & he has pellets through his skull. I had vivid ideas of retribution! He is the sweetest dog!

I had a similar experience with a cat who came to me as a stray. Years later an X-Ray revealed a bullet embedded in his shoulder. Someone shot this cat. They hurt him on purpose. I still can’t articulate the anguish of this knowledge.

The rescuers found Melly unconscious from illicit drugs that had been given to her (some drug dealers in Ajijic, MX picked her up off the street) and with cigarette burns on her body. She's almost 5 now and brings joy to our life every day. [She's the big one; Rosie is also a rescue.]
She is gorgeous, thank god she has you. My daughter has an animal rescue in So. California, she rescues dogs here and in Mexico. The things she sees! She’s tough tho, I just sob when she shows me before/after pics. She always tells me she has no time to cry, it’s about saving as many as she can.

According to the vet, no, his body basically grew something around it, but it can irritate through his older years.
We rescued a 10-ish-year-old pittie from Texas, and among other things discovered two untreated cancers and 4 unattended broken bones. The ER vet was pretty sure she had never seen a vet in her life before. This kind of thing makes me into a person I don't want to be anymore.

Same for hers. Was with her thru addiction and recovery and now has been with her through her first pregnancy. He’s always by her side.

Nothing surprises me about how animals are treated. The important thing is you saved his life, give him lots of love, treats, safety and a soft place to sun himself. Mourn the past and know you have spoiled him enough for him to never think of it again. No greater happiness than a wagging tail.

I used to work with a rescue in california. Some of the things I saw happen to dogs and cats were simply heartbreaking. I hate humans.
He looks so much like my Cas. I didn’t know until a year ago that my boy had a chip with outdated information. I’d saved him at 2 in 2016, & it looks like he was stolen by the person I got him from. He was clearly starved & abused by someone. He’s the sweetest happiest boy now.

We put reward signs up all around the neighborhood to figure out who it was. Someone kept ripping them down. I found out 5 years later who did it. The criminal had already died.
