In Danish, it’s usually called “kryds” or “X”. Kryds basically means intersection (trafikkryds means an intersection in traffic, for instance). No Danish person would ever call it “kors”, which is Danish for cross, as that’s exclusively the shape as used in Christian iconography

Took me forever to realize it's the yes and no buttons (in Japan, Circle yes, x no). Because the SNES has them inverted for menu interactions. So to remap my brain as a kid playing FF7, i sang, 🎶 "This is the YES-YES, button, and the NO-NO button..." 🎶 EVERY time i booted up the PS1.

It's a Japanese thing. Circle was used to confirm choices (used instead of a tick), X was used to go back or reject. Some early PS1 titles used this button mapping. Western gamers got confused.

I first found this out from playing watch dogs legion that has a voice telling you to "please press cross button" on the main title Also I followed a YouTuber back in the day who called a D-pad "command Cross"
