Zero Mission is an EXCELLENT version of the original Metroid. I didn't much care for the stealth sections, but I kinda don't like stealth sections in any game. lol

My personal advice is to never try to 100% this game, they really expect you to have a fine understanding of speedrun strats and such. Their shinespark puzzles are obnoxious here.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! It's the favorite in the series for many people. 🙂 ...but personally I haaaate Zero Mission. 😕 It's biggest crime is destroying the atmosphere of the original and replacing it with comic book style art and cutscenes. I'd rather play the original any day. 😌
The second crime was the new, final section. It didn't fit thematically, it didn't fit the gameplay, the new final boss was easy, anticlimactic, and boring, and, in my opinion, the whole section wasn't fun at all.
Hell yeah! Zero mission is a great time!! Def the one I replay on the GBA over fusion
I want an original Zelda remake done with a similar expand/change/improve mindset as this.
I prefer this one over Fusion quite a bit - before Dread, it was my #2 in the series (only behind Super Metroid)
The addition of Mecha Ripley was an unexpected twist.
Need to finish that one, I started it and felt like i was booking through it haha
Bunches of nods to super Metroid in that one.
I loved my time with Zero Mission last year?? I think it would be the perfect entry point for newbies.
I definitely need to play this game
My hot take that nobody ever agrees with is that Zero Mission is just as much a sequel to Super Metroid as it is a remake of Metroid 1. Story is obviously a remake of 1 but so much of the gameplay is built off of Super Metroid it feels like the next logical step after SM. (I actually prefer SM)
I felt that way, but more so with Fusion. Maybe it's because I played Zero Mission right after Fusion, but it feels so much like it that it's hard for me not to compare.
Zero Mission was my favorite of the sidescrollers for a long while before Dread came out. There's an energy and atmosphere here that feels oddly unique in the series. I dunno if I'd call it the "best", cause best can be a lot of things, but it's probably Metroid at it's most raw effortless *fun*
Such a fun game. Both Metroid games on GBA are great imho. 🤗
