.... I have also never played a ZX Spectrum. But in my defense, I'm not British.
.... I have also never played a ZX Spectrum. But in my defense, I'm not British.
I've only ever emulated a Spectrum and a C64. Never seen either in person. Just a bit before my time I guess.
This is another one I literally never even heard of until a few years ago. I did play something for it on MiSTer just to check it out once though.
I don’t think I’ve even SEEN a ZX.
My dad actually brought not 1 but 2 Amigas with him from the UK when he moved back here. We still have them. I used them to write my papers for Jr High. Teachers were confused as shit why they got my assignments printed on dot matrix paper.
Most 80s microcomputers can be summed up as “Are they fun to use in the modern day?” No “Were they important for the time?” Yes
Now tell me, when you typed that did you pronounce it correctly in your head? The Spectrum was fun enough. My (14 years older ) brother had one as a kid and left it when he moved out as an adult so my siblings and I played with it somewhat, I half wish it survived to today just for the novelty
Oh I know... Zed Ex Spectrum or "Speccy" 😎
Good good. Thankfully won't have to petition MI6 to deal with you hehe
My dad had two. Still has them. We don't know if either one works.
I AM British, & I have never played a ZX Spectrum. However, I did actually see a few of them in the wild this very morning. 😅😅
I'm not British either, but the Spectrum was popular in the rest of Europe! But even if you are American...
This is not a dig on my Brits. I'm just American and the Speccy was crazy popular in the UK. I've never even seen one in person. 😬
I've emulated it. I've only played a few games on it, but the ones I've played are alright. BBC Micro, on the other hand...
I've never seen one either. And I've never seen a Commodore 64 either! And before anyone asks, yes, I've seen (and played) arcade cabinets!
You've never had the pleasure of typing on a keyboard that feels like dead flesh.
Okay that brings up a whole new definition of computer hacker. Crossed with eldritch horror, they hack with a computer made of flesh and bone to bring nightmares into reality.
The only nightmare with a Spectrum is knocking the desk and the joystick interface falls out the back bricking the computer forever.
You can always redeem yourself 😉
