Israel as a culture has been around since just after the Bronze Age Collapse and the Jewish people have always been its indigenous inhabitants. Most Palestinians are descendants of Arab colonisers who came to settle in the region after 15 AH.

While a lot of the stories in the Tanakh are obviously folkloric/allegorical in nature and convey true ideas more than literal material truths, most archaeological evidence indicates that things described in the historical books of the Tanakh most likely happened close to how they are described.

The Arab conquest was as long ago as the conquest of the region by the Jews, give or take, so in pure calculus they have as good a claim, and the far more recent claim, than European or north African Jews, or even other levantine/near eastern Jewish populations
