IS religion intrinsically regressive and cruel? I ask that because Jesus seems to have been pretty dang radical and progressive.

Jesus wasn't religion, religion was built around Jesus But no religion isn't intrinsically regressive and cruel, although Christianity seems to try very hard to not be anything else
