A person I went to high school with just became a grandparent
Wait until you read that first obit for one of your exes. It's not nearly as much fun as you thought it would be back in your twenties, & it gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "body count." 3 of my exes are now dead. Yes. I have alibis.
Yeah when that happens it’s mind blowing. Wait till your 50th high school reunion (ours was this year) when they bring along those grandkids. And some are adults
Yes, my 50th is where I learned that 2 of my classmates were great-grandfathers. Also, everybody left for home by about 10pm. I was apparently the only one who considered retiring by 1am as "early to bed."
🤣🤣🤣
My little brother is a grandparent
Don’t worry pops aging comes to us all x
Those of us who grew up in the South have this experience (peers becoming grandparents) in our early thirties.
Imagine my surprise when my little brother, and then my little sister became grandparents!
Recently had this exact experience
My younger sister is a grandparent multiple times over. I still don't feel old, but she's old af.
I see old people in the grocery store and realize I went to high school with them.
One of my good friends from school has been a teacher there for some decades. Her quote: It is kind of nice to teach the children of those you have taught. Teaching their grandchildren gives one pause for thought…
Then you’re staring death right in the face. 😂
It's 11:45 am, respectfully...I don't need this type of negativity before I take my bone density supplement and join my mall walkers group.
Well, I’m 67 and just became a dad. Sad I waited, glad he’s here. Never felt love like this my entire life.
Enjoy!
Im 42 and graduated in 02. So yeah, Im entirely sure its happened multiple times over by now.
When the oldies radio channel your parents used to listen to every day is suddenly playing those modern hits you grew up with.
I ran into the parents of my grade school crush a couple years ago. When her mom said "did you know she's a grandmother now?!" I died a little inside.
Everyone I knew in High School has been buried for a while.
That's fantastic. How old are you? I think that part would be relevant to your post, right?
My cousin is one year older than me and the grandmother of a toddler. I have a three year old. 🧓
Pfft. A couple of years ago I was greeting a new kindergartener and asked — based on his unusual last name — whether he were any kin to a former high school student of mine, and his mother cheerfully told me that the former student was this boy's grandfather.
And many of my first students are now collecting Social Security. I'm old.
I just got a notice in the mail for my 50-year high school reunion for Class of 75.
🤣🤣 well played
It happens.... Inexplicable though it feels!!!
your 40s is such a wild time because the people you grew up with could be having their first wedding, kid, grandkid, or heart attack
I'm in my 30s. Three of those have already happened; I know of one, a bully from my schooldays, who died of a heart attack at barely past 30 years. The only thing that hasn't happened is the grandkid's arrival, but most are married with kids, so...
I don't really mind. Time moves on, we move on. I just hope those kids are doing alright, better at any event than we had, than I had.
More content like this!
Haha
I’m the oldest of 14 grandkids, but quite a few of my younger cousins are grandparents. One of them, about 10 years younger than I, is likely to be a great grandparent before I have a single grandkid.
My mom’s former students now have grandkids 😅.
This is what happens in life.
That's okay, don't fret too much! You're not necessarily old. I once had a guy who worked for me that became a grandfather at the ripe old age of 32! Now THAT's an achievement!
Yeah, that’s a stunner. At least a third of my class has shuffled off this mortal coil. Those notices set me back a bit when they come out.
Aging sucks but it beats the alternative.
At least he hasn’t tossed off his mortal coil like many of my peers!
I'm 42 born April 83 and my cousin was born 6 months earlier September 82, and the last time we spoke she bragged to me about being a grandmother multiple times and she's not even 43 yet!
I live in the South. This shit happened in my 30s.
My son just became a grandfather 😶
In less surprising news,... I am 64 and expect to be told I am a grandparent, any hour now.... Just a little excited in our house!!!!!!!!! My son is 4000 km away, so we won't see the baby in person until Christmas. We have a trip to Tanzania in September.
That really depends how old you are. 50s? Eh, conceivable. 30s? Yeah, panic.
You’re lucky you’re alive to know this. Some people never make it to that point. Being alive and growing old is a true gift. Enjoy it.
I'm trying, but my three unrelated medical appointments are not making it easy!😄
Here’s the thing: I’ve survived more than 3 separate cancers. Try to stay positive. I’m sending you good vibes because you deserve all the good light in the universe. I wish you the best.
Thank you!😊
Tell me about it.
I was 32 the first time that happened. Yay for “Abstinence Only” sex ed. 🤣🤣🤣😬
