They tried to invite me into their discord after I utterly destroyed the trivia contest at Polcon and took no prisoners but I don’t like discord much

I only like small private servers, public servers overwhelm me (I'm in some but it's mostly utilitary). I'm on that one but never really look what's going on, last time they still didn't grasp that in order to be welcoming space they can't tolerate bullies (and they def had some)

I mainly use discord for work (I have work account and work servers that serve as main comms platform for my employer) which also skews my perception

I'm actually on this one trek server since day one, lol, but I forgot about it (my usual thing is join server-introduction-get overwhelmed-mute it-forget forever). I did *some* talking around last (or previous?) imladris when I did a trek fandom history presentation

I just kept it to the topic but then one of old timey guy rode in with mansplaining that my pronouns don't exist, lol (a friend of mine got into heated discussion that hopefully provided onlookers with new perspective)

granted, I did talk later with that guy with a nickame that starts with X, and turns out he's genuinely trying and really *didn't know* how to manage safe space, which, I guess, is a very common problem in fandom spaces

yea these days I really need to sit on 'hmmm maybe I'll join this server' for a long time before I make the decision. I'm only checking one private one with friends, one inclusive heathen group, and I'm considering joining cara app server because it actually seems like useful thing to do

I was active in a discord group chat with some former work colleagues and friends that’s for our group cinema-going and it was fine but then they decided to make it into a whole server with multiple channels and invite more friends and then I stopped checking if because too overwhelming
