Spam away!
The best kind of thread. Keep it coming! (but not at the expense of relaxing).
Lots of 20mph in Cornwall these days (not very well observed though, as far as I've seen!)
Yes - being rolled out through the whole county as default. Really wish Torbay/Devon would see that this must happen here too. Otherwise I’m sure tourists will vote with their feet (and wallets!)
Really when the roads are so narrow and winding, particularly near/through villages, there is no sensible alternative!
Sadly relying on people to be able to judge and adjust their speed accordingly just doesn’t seem to work!
Worse still, people who cannot judge the width of their vehicles, and drive so far away from the kerb/verge that two vehicles cannot pass even when there is enough room to do so 🙄
So many of those! And far too many range rovers 🤬
Often Chelsea tractors for sure, but an increasing minority of small cars whose drivers clearly don’t know how small they are! 😬
I love cute bin lorries! They have them in Dorset too - the kids thought they were almost as adorable as the teeny vintage Italian trike truck ice cream van- though less nice smelling…
Little electric buses to assist people who need it back up the hill.
I've had a crazy couple of weeks at work so this break away from it all is just what I needed. Been here less than 24 hours so far and have already read most of a book, and feeling very relaxed 😎 Cheers!
Visited Lanhydrock today (National Trust place) - they have some really good mountain bike trails! It's so rare that I ride a bike just for fun, and I'm really not used to big wide handlebars and extremely nippy brakes - but I didn't stack it (unlike my 13 year old who has some serious scrapes) 🤣
Nice to see that the cycle hire place had recumbent trikes, too ☺️
Didn't take a photo as I was driving and couldn't be bothered to stop, but there's some...interesting shared space/implied roundabouts in Bodmin. Some drivers seemed very confused by them. Also took this photo of some nice granite kerbs in Tintagel.
On my latest visit earlier this year there seemed to be more signs - mostly official or corporate - in both English and Cornish, than I'd seen before. Which is a Good Thing.
Yes I've noticed that too ☺️
What these 20mph signs do is not that they keep drivers drive at or under 20, but it reduces the number of drivers driving above 30mph. To keep drivers under 20, you need a lot more than signs.
Keep the spamming. I live here and it’s great to hear that you’re enjoying it.
