The thing is since the data is there, it shouldn't have been hard to fix in testing before releasing it wide to the public. But feels like they aren't testing it enough and letting the customers do it.

That is Tesla's brand. We are the beta, & in some cases alpha, testers. But I'm not sure how you would effectively test something like this without wide releases. That said, they aren't doing it in a way that is safe or rewards the testers, unless you think paying $8K for the privilege is a reward.

With all the money and time spent on it, I figured they at least understand what would need to be developed in order to make this work. Not sure that's true any more.
