Like America can still pretend to give a damn about science after the GOP set it back 40 years.

And starlink. Incredibly valuable technology, with major humanitarian and strategic potential.
Any and all science/tech developed using public funding is not patentable and open for public use. At a minimum.
the current Democratic congressional leadership is accepting millions of dollars in bundled donations from lobbyists for SpaceX. Here's the new DCCC disclosure covering the first six months of the year.
Nationalize that shit
Elected Democrats must destroy all businesses that donate to Republicans. Car dealerships for one.
This is a bit like how his car company is the most valuable in the world *by far*, despite not being in the top 10 by revenue or sales and shrinking in terms of market share. They're meme stocks.
Musk owns 3/4 of the satellites. No human should have that kind power. He has to be broken up, like a fucking monopoly. Tax the rich.
We used to break up monopolies for a good reason.
I worry a lot about this one. I am older, and remember a very different world than this one. There will soon only be a few corporations. China has a twelve hour, six day work week, and silicon valley is forcing it on some. Musk and his ilk must not get control.
Same here, my mother of 88 years has not seen it this bad.
I don’t understand what our politicians were thinking when they handed him all this money and power! We are represented by mostly idiots!!
I am not sure at all how this came about. People distrust governments, but every damn department is not run by a demon, etc.... so they are trying to give the power to the private sector. Profits for the one percent.
Plus Starlink is killing the view from the ground.
Spacex is bad but I want Palantir and Anduril wiped from existence first. I want the actual threats to civilians and democracy gone first before we go after the billionaires' play things.
My fondest dream is an internet privacy law that makes it a felony crime for executives at any company that collects and stores [everything Palantir grabs], but there’s no reason we can’t nationalize SpaceX while working to get that law passed, right?
Followers will be spared.
Honestly, it's way more likely that we wipe everyone else from existence.
Just nationalize it
And there's plenty of precedence for it, given the role it plays in national security, etc.
Well trump hates musk and will most likely do it to spite him
Cut the NASA contracts and spacex will be worth 5 bucks and change.
Musk will sue and win. He already sued customers for not buying his shitty product. In that case it was companies not buying advertising on x the everything app.
Especially since Lockheed has grokked aneutronic fusion 👀🛸
ah how the bush legacy lives on ....good times www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna6802528
Not just SpaceX but Tesla as well.
The whole thing is built on NASA and DoD funding, just nationalize it
I don't think this is important, which is good because it seems very unlikely to happen. If at some time the government wants to try to remove SpaceX from Musk's control on any of numerous possible grounds, that might be a good idea. Also possible SpaceX will implode as Starship keeps exploding.
Absolutely agree any serious commitment to democracy should include breaking up or dismantling corporations like SpaceX that funnel billions into authoritarian projects and fascist enablers. The myth of “innovation” shouldn’t shield them from accountability.
My family is going through an extremely difficult time right now. My brother is seriously ill with severe stomach pain, and we’ve run out of food and clean water. We’ve been struggling for over a week, and we urgently need help to get medicine and basic needs.

@joshtpm.bsky.social why did you repost something so stupid?
No. Space is practically the only technology of national security import that the U.S. still leads China in - and that is pretty much entirely due to the SpaceX. SpaceX dominates the worldwide launch market and much of modern life depends on the satellites it puts into space. Don't be stupid.
narrator: they will not be
Nearly all of SpaceX's accomplishments could be achieved by actually funding science and space exploration. Space should never become the domain of private companies
I hate Elon. He needs to go. I used to think we should nationalize Space X, but I've changed my mind. NASA needs rockets, and SpaceX has provided. We can do public/private partnerships. We've done it in every sector for nearly a century. The US should pressure SpaceX to force Elon out, though.
He owns nearly half the company and has nearly 80% of the voting rights. Separating Musk and SpaceX is impossible.
There is always a way. It may not be easy, but there is always a way. In the meantime, NASA might want to open bidding to other aerospace companies that build rockets to even the playing field.
I don't think there is a way. Certainly not in the short term. There's no real competition. Even if the political will was there - which it isn't - the legalities would make it impossible. Musk would sue on many fronts and probably win on 1st amendment rights alone.
😭
Really getting down in the gutter and wrestling with the pigs, eh?
The idea that a political party should be “committed to obliterating” a private company feels completely wrong. Surely there is a way to defang Elon that is more in line with our values?
It sickening to comtemplate as the Musk-driven DOGE boys gutted our science future across other fields in the name of austerity.
We should nationalize it. SpaceX has an amazing track record and has made more launches than everyone else combined. Musk shouldn't be in charge of it, but destroying it would be a big loss.
Do t have to destroy what you can nationalize
Can't have a Nazi Mars Colony without first having a Nazi moon base.
Nationalize SpaceX, obliterate Tesla.
And also get rid of that idiotic “Space Force.”
presumably we'll need to nationalize some of it given dependencies on satellites, rocket launches, and starlink
This is what a party who desires to win against fascism would do
which is why they won't do it
Yup
I would have the United States government make any further contracts with SpaceX contingent on Elon Musk being removed from any role with the company - following the same rules all other contractors are supposed to follow. Make the majority shareholders choose between Musk and their money.
