This poll shows Dem +3 on the generic ballot, and shows voters don't associate Trump's unpopular policies with the GOP. Big opportunity for Dems there. Or they can make the problem worse by listening to centrists, finding agreement with Trump/GOP, and blurring any distinction between the parties.

Dems are under fire from the GOP voters as well as Dem voters. I don't know, but that could explain why they are lower in popularity than the GOP.

By opinion yes, but not when it comes to whom to vote for. Dem voters are pissed at Dem leaders for not being able to stop or at least slow Trump, but in no way ready to vote GOP.

Let me be clear that I'd crawl through glass to vote these nazis out, but that's not everyone. Dems need to give people a reason to go vote - if they don't show their willingness to fight authoritarianism, they're not going to get as many voters as we need to survive this as a country.

I get trying to expand your base but I would recommend at first shoring up your own base. The Dems in 2024 felt they could attract enough swing voters to offset the far left h they turned off

Both parties embarrassingly unpopular, voters interpret choices before then as bad or worse, younger Americans don’t see any reflection of themselves or their priorities in our government, and so democracy becomes less and less a thing that people are concerned with losing.

If Dems are more unpopular than the GOP but are up in the generic ballot, does the WSJ poll show that the Democratic Party is unpopular with the base? But the base will still vote for them over Republicans?

“voters don't associate Trump's unpopular policies with the GOP” The Republican Party is completely and utterly and slavishly subservient to Trump—how is it possible that voters don’t connect Trump to the GOP? Republicans certainly do.

The policy thing drives me crazy at this point. Trump has no policy goals apart from avoiding accountability and stealing as much wealth as possible. Any actual policy being written is driven by GOP think tanks or ghouls like Stephen Miller. Trump is the corruption golem used by others for evil.

Disinformation merchants have worked very diligently for decades to make sure the voting population thinks all politicians are corrupt and evil, thus, when obvious evil corruption is on the ballot, it's not a deal-breaker. It also doesn't help that some Dems have been corrupt and evil, so... /1

The reason it’s so easy for the GOP to go on the attack and control the narrative is the Dems always seek more worried about (as you mentioned) decorum. The Dems leadership think they stand for civility and our constitution. What they don’t realize is they stand for the status quo

Then it moves to issues, which, because Dems are never in control of the narrative, are always framed in conservative language.and fought on their battleground. Their bad faith framing is the default all networks use to talk about political issues, so we're constantly marinating in their BS Sigh
