Not to say the market has wisdom or is right about anything, but it is notable that 'the market' doesn't believe AI is going to improve productivity. The market believes the big money is in selling AI / chips / data centers, not in actually doing something useful with them.

The question is does AI add value to people’s lives, or only wealth to Silicon Valley’s billionaires? The huge server farms are enormously expensive and damaging to the environment. Do The People get anything of value out of this technology?

Hmm --- but if you can't actually do anything useful with the AI coming from the chips and the data centers, then how valuable are the chips and data centers, really? Seems like there might be a bubble there ---

The technology can be repurposed for something useful. It's definitely a bubble but a company like Nvidia will still have value making graphics chips. Data centres can host things other than AI. It will be like the 19th century railway mania. 95-99% of the money will be lost but trains will remain.

Most AI will be edge, and Nvidia is not in that market.

Paywall 😩 What examples of companies they are selling? my guess would be Saas and consulting/analytics firms.

Meanwhile, recent college grads in “Computer Science” and coding can’t find those jobs Republican Ben Sasse gushed about before resigning in disgrace from the University of Florida for “Budget Mismanagement.”

AI will take over data analysis and any job that requires a computer . This, to go along with nuclear reactor on the moon . Robots don't require air or food or money .

I just got off an ATT AI chat session. I can assure you AI will not help with productivity. It's the 80/20 rule. AI is 80% of the way there but the last 20% will take lots longer to achieve than the first 20%. AI results look good to those who don't have the expertise to understand its results.

Paywall. But companies providing AI services/software seem to be doing pretty well: Amazon web services, Google Cloud, MFST Azure, Palantir, Veeva, Oracle, Crowdstrike...

Oh, sure, but the real question is whether society is better off or damaged. Because they do that by offloading costs and liabilities onto the public with extreme electrical grid and aquifer impacts, it's a resource and infrastructure rip-off. And they are all IP stealing parasites.
