Yup. The Argument's raison d'être is to prevent political discourse from moving any farther left. They find President Trump distasteful but with some policies they like and, most of all, very entertaining. A real catastrophe would be something like AOC becoming the chair of a House subcommittee.
Given all that, I was surprised to see Charlotte Swasey join on, but it makes sense given the string of "practical politics polling" articles. I would prefer to see "how to make the left case stronger", but Swasey is more pragmatic, I guess
As long as everyone in power remains a neoliberal, the capitalists don't care if they have a D or an R next to their name at this point. Capitalism has finally successfully homogenized American economic politics that, long term, it makes little difference which party is actually in power.
All that's left to "debate" at this point is culture and social issues. So any mention of the economic side can only harm capitalist interests in the public sphere.

like a Thomas chatterbox book, an article in the Argument can be thought of as the monologue of one person at a dinner party of elites who prefers to be The liberal at that table, but desperately needs to keep commoners out of the building entirely
