A sharply defined, snow-covered mountain peak rises above the Loket Tributary of the Black Rapids Glacier in interior Alaska. The low-angle sunlight casts deep shadows across the ridges and highlights the textures of wind-sculpted snow and glacial ice. Crevasses and bulges mark the lower portion of the glacier, where it flows between steep, rocky outcrops. The sky above is deep blue, and the scene is entirely alpine—stark, remote, and silent under a blanket of white.
