What does honey it taste like? My best plant this year was a mystery squash that grew in my compost pile. It’s like nothing I’ve had before, but the flavor is something like delicata. Maybe it’s a hybrid.

Beautiful plant -- it was well nourished on the compost pile!

This is the first year I've grown 'Honeynut,' so I don't know what it tastes like yet. I will post my findings! Your plant looks like some sort of acorn squash. It may well be a hybrid! Squashes of the same type can cross easily. Acorn and Delicata both being Cucurbita Pepo, they can hybridize.

Yes it is shaped somewhat like an acorn squash. It didn’t seem that sweet. Perhaps I harvested too early since I didn’t know what I was looking for!

It can be hard to tell, especially if it was an unknown cross. If the vines were withering the fruit had probably gone as far as it could go.
