Petersham looks a couple of metres closer.

Petersham must be a 40 minute walk. Do you mean St Peters? It’s a ten minute leisurely stroll from the door of Sydenham station to the door at Marrickville Metro. I’ve done it quicker on multiple occasions. St Peters is probably five minutes further.

And here’s the slow walk pace according to maps

This is exactly how I remember it and I stand by my point that a train station closer would be better.

If you two can’t stretch this argument out for another 30 minutes then you’re not even trying. :)

I’d really like a walking path next to the train tracks and stormwater pond rather than the stroll down Sydney Steel Street, behind the graffiti wall, with the left turn to the station.

It would he helpful yes, but that would require accessible thinking by the people who design access to sydney train stations.

This *could* happen if all that light industrial stuff were moved out?

… for the path … it should be straightforward to organise once the rail replacement bus marshalling area is no longer needed …

At this point I would like to say: Trams.

Yes, that would be the challenge. I think it’s going to happen eventually but it’s going to be a 20-30 year process.

Yeah it might look like an easy walk but it’s really not walk friendly at all, particularly for anyone with a stroller or a mobility challenge. Or carrying shopping!

This! And there’s always a creepy guy or two loitering around the bright pink brothel on the corner.

Yeah, it’s just not an area anyone not a youngish male really feels comfortable. Especially at night. And the pavement is all cracked too. A nice well lit path for walking and riding would do wonders

I’m with @snarkyplatypus.com on this. The entrance should be at the opposite end of the platform - they should build another entrance on the other end of the platform so that it’s a couple of hundred metres closer to Marrickville Metro

You’re clearly unfamiliar with sydney train stations addiction to limiting accessibility
