This is an enormous breach of security precisely BECAUSE the receipts can’t be verified with 100% accuracy. Journalistic integrity (a hell of a lot of it I might add) is all this story has.

Is Signal set up to be untraceable? If so, that, alone makes it an illegal platform for anyone in the government to use for official communication. I'm terrified about what will have to happen for Americans to revolt.

That’s exactly what signal is. Military grade end to end encryption with self deleting logs. And yea, it’s very illegal to use for official communications. It’s meant for civilians and journalists in private use.
