Funny how religion and authoritarianism go hand in hand… and what exactly are they fighting for, anyway? Control. Always control.

The New Testament is a story about how religion had become a form of authoritarianism and one guy got really pissed about it so he upset the system. And people use that story to do more authoritarianism.

spot on 🎯🎯🎯🎯 And the short answer is people accepting of authoritarianism, be it religion or dictatorship, is that a large part of humanity want to be ruled. They fail at taking responsibility for their own lives and respecting all life on an equal bssis; they need to be told what to think

Yes. They cherry-pick the things from religious texts - of any kind - that align to their goals (they do this by suggesting those things are literal, ordained, commanded) and dismiss the things that don’t align to their goals (by suggesting THOSE things are not literal, metaphorical).

Ah yes. Apologetics will find a way. A nonsensical way- defying science and logic and even sometimes other scripture, but they’ll find a way.
