I dont think people realise how fucked up our immigration system is. out of I think it was 5 people I offered tier 2 visas to for NHS consultant/ speciality doctor roles only 3 started, 1 dropped out cos he didn't meet criteria and one just gave up cos it was literally too hard to do the paperwork
Theres an immigration guy I followed for years on twitter called Colin Yeo who talked once about how they make it purposely so hard so people don't bother staying. Thats people applying for residence or tier 2 extensions.....
There seems to be no overall plan that looks at the complexities and long term needs. A plan doesn't have to mean some strict system but something that actually says "people are getting older and not having kids, maybe we need young immigrants to come here and work"
