if it's any consolation to you your consistent plugging of the ring cycle made me listen to it and i really enjoyed what i heard. looking forward to taking a deep dive when i get the chance. your work is making a difference even if it's just "make one guy enjoy opera for the first time"
aww thanks
Yeah, weekdays!
It’s unfortunate that there’s no way to feel despair without seeming entitled
I think that feeling is an absolutely bizarre consequence of the lefts obsession with oppression Olympics. You’re allowed to feel bad even if someone has it worse than you.
😂 I’m sorry, that’s hilarious My anger at the “scholars must consume less, demand less, wither away while giving 150% to needy others” discourse turned me into an Epicurean. It’s ok to exist and enjoy things in this life
hard to enjoy things when the economy takes away all your money
Agree!! But that’s step 2 after “I want things,” which is one step above despair
There’s something about the contemporary American liberal milieu that more or less demands that you never admit how bad things are, that the act itself is inherently moralized as a negative unproductive act because we’re all, ultimately (and falsely), integrated into this rational political machine.
“You have depression, stop broadcasting it” maybe some of us do, why is that and why do you care. idk.
Accurately describing reality feels like an attack, but it's not the description that's the attack, it's reality itself
Thinking about how when the USSR fell, how many doctors and engineers went unemployed. Because the infrastructure that supported those careers was stolen in the night, piece by piece. And the only remaining jobs were day labor for the kings of the shit mound.
That capacity never came back. Russia is an empire built on a carcass.
Feel it together
