Using State resources to enforce Federal law is permitted but may not be enforced federally under Supreme Court precedent. [SCOTUS, "precedent" means prior court decisions that we generally follow because of well-reasoned legal opinions.] Sorry for that diversion, but SCOTUS needed that help.
