If Dems can’t get on board with trans people’s rights to the same human rights as everyone else we have zero chance of winning. It’s the crux of democracy, privacy, autonomy,freedom from gov. Etc… Anyone debating this is already gone.

I don't know that the Democratic Party survives the Trump years, it has proven itself such a soulless husk of an opposition party that I don't know that what's left will even be worth a gut and reno. Whatever comes after, though, these people cannot lead within it at any level.

There’s no rule that they need to survive. The polling numbers they have would cause a corporation to rebrand and clean house, on their way to inevitable bankruptcy.
Then we're going to have to functionally support alternatives. As someone who was an alternative, there is a severe shortage of support.
Sometimes I hope for a progressive groundswell in ‘26 that reshapes the entire party, and remaking it in the Squad’s image. And then sometimes I hope party leadership tries to crush that groundswell and it leads to the formation of a new political party, and the Democrats go the way of the Whigs.
I mean, for decades conservative media has hammered into people’s heads how awful Democrats are, and for about that long the Democrats have only reinforced that perception by genuinely sucking. Maybe the answer is a new progressive party without all that baggage.
I know we have a two-party system, but sometimes, in dramatic circumstances like these, the two parties change — like the aforementioned centrist Whigs falling to the newly-minted radical abolitionist Republicans. Maybe it’s time for a new party system. This current one sure isn’t working for us.
