People need to be DONE done with these capitulation contrarians. Matt Yglesias, Tom Nichols, Pod Save guys, all of them. I don't care if they "sometimes make a good point," they spend at least as much time actively arguing dangerous ones that enable the fascists. No (discursive) quarter.
I was done with Tom Nichols awhile ago. I can’t take him seriously after hearing him fan boy over Reagan.
Tom helped lead us to where we are now and is trying to profit off of resistance and resentment towards it while trying to "who, me?" his way out of his own complicity. Same for Conway, the Meidas touch gang and others.

"They sometimes make a good point" is a weak excuse. A broken clock is right twice a day, sure. But we either fix or replace broken clocks.
also, in some of their cases, it isn't even true MattY isn't a broken clock that's right twice a day, he's a clock who's realized that if all the other clocks say it's 3:15 then saying it's 8:45 means he gets column inches to present the opposing viewpoint
I don't follow many of these or other "popular" figures or podcasts, so it's helpful when you call them out.
And if they do make a good point ever, I'm sure someone else without their baggage also made it so why not go quote them?
Nichols is an actual Russia expert and in his area of expertise I pay attention to him, but not elsewhere.
Why grant credibility in one area when someone is dishonest in many other areas?
Because in fact he seems to know his subject there. He'd hardly be the first expert to fail to understand his limitations.
Sure, but why would I trust anyone I’ve seen is not trustworthy. It’s really okay to judge people for their actions. You aren’t required to excuse bad actors. Other people exist that do work in his area that haven’t broken trust.
