"Canada 'caved' to Trump to restart talks, says White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt." This is not a win, this is and embarrassment. If you want to assuage the orange shit gibbon, don't do it at our expense, @mark-carney.bsky.social, all it does is embolden him. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Apparently this tax was just a part of a bigger plan that was set out by Trudeau . Carney didn't cave. He saw it as a drop in the bucket. He also wanted Trump to " think" that he won. He's playing him and playing the long game. Give him a minute.

This is how I also see Carney's strategy. He's playing the long game, and he's doing it to benefit Canadians. We just need to take a breath and watch Carney deal the first hand. Trust him. He's working for us. Zero days golfing!

If Leavitts words embarrass you , maybe you should consider the source. Or do you live and die by her words?

I am willing to be patient knowing that there are ongoing international discussions on DST that we are involved in over the short term rabid sound bites of the Amerikan. In the meantime cancel Amerikan digital services.

This is it exactly. There is a global version coming; Canada just did it's own because the prior gov't thought they talks were taking too long.

I don’t think Canada caved I believe it’s part of the strategy. Make Trump “think” (I know he doesn’t but) Canada caved and use it as leverage. I like it ❤️

At first I was pissed off, but let’s not assume we are the calibre of economist Carney is. This may be a ‘take the hit to make the play’ move, give it time for the whole negotiation to play out. Ignore the 🇺🇸 talking, they’re all idiots.

KKKaroline Leavitt uses deliberately chosen words to cause anger in Canadians. Seems to have worked for you. It got the fat felon to the table, didn't it? Trade negotiations back on the menu. It's not a sprint, until the 31st of July. The USA is close to a tipping point. Let's avoid the edge.

Canada didn't cave. The DST law is still on the books. We just delayed implementing it because we figured the entertainment value of negotiating with a large, orange toddler would be worth the slight delay.

Ann. Who? @ann-can.bsky.social

It’s an absolute win. Carney toss that dog a bone. Can you imagine the outcry from Canadians if Netflix decided to pull out of Canada, or start charging more for subscriptions because of the tax? It wasnt Carney’s bill and he was willing to toss it as a bargaining chip. Calculated move. The result:

Carney has earned nothing as a politician. PMJT forged those international connections for Canada. Carney may have been an astute economist and banker, but those skills have most certainly not translated politically. Carney's best political move is rolling over when pressed by Trump.
