I was watching the first episode of Speed Racer, and I’m curious about the availability of the original Japanese-language version; is that version not licensed for distribution in the States?

Ok so You can actually watch the original Japanese version in the US on Pluto TV: pluto.tv/us/on-demand... But if you want to OWN it, AFAIK the only US release is that collector's edition that came in a plastic Speed Racer head.

It's a pricy set because it comes with both versions of the series AND the 90s reboot. But if you're a fan, it's worth it!
