I've seen speculation that he sees himself as the 2028 front-runner. I'd rather peel my skin off with my fingernails than listen to him talk (and I can't be the only one), so he's got kind of an uphill battle to the nomination.

Beside the point. Do you think he BELIEVES it's a possibility? He's never let facts get in the way of his beliefs before.

Well, Mike Pence believed that JHVH personally wanted him to sit in the big chair. So far that has not happened.
