This is #Spiranthes lacera. It can flower as early as June but is usually found in the lawns here the first week of September. They resemble tiny Cattleya orchids.

The spirals of buds are diverse and can vary with one or two rows as can the spacing along each row. One plant refused to spiral with a vertical row of flowers.
