It’s not unusual to try to keep deployments under 30 days. However, given the bonuses reportedly being thrown around for barely-qualified, would be ICE goons, to deprive pay and benefits for people actually qualified to do their job is just another slap in the face to our soldiers.

It's not unusual IF the troops were going back to their states. They're not. The orders end on day 29, and new orders cut on day 31. That's not fair to the troops who have families to support.

If that’s the case then the regime is probably violating the law and, at the very least, embittering the Guard who are deployed. Good luck getting them to do your bidding, Donnie. Remember what a shitshow your parade was?

Not violating any laws, but it's just not fair to those troops who are basically civilians and weekend warriors as we called them back when I was on active duty. They have bills to pay, and without that extra money, many will end up behind on payments, which will make them unable to reenlist.

What is their status on day 30? Military? civilian? Who is paying their lodging? Per Diem? This stinks to high heaven. I was in the Reserves. This sort of fuckery is absolutely poisonous to good order and discipline. If command doesn’t care for the troops, the troops won’t care about the mission.

You are exactly right. It stinks, it's not good for retention or enlistments. With any luck, the worm will turn, and the troops will turn on him
