I fell down the stairs once and still had a pretty good day. Ever since then I've thrown myself down the stairs each morning and fully advocate for daily stair therapy.

Scarily, I think the logic is more “as long as it doesn’t do lasting damage, it’s satisfying to hit them” even though that’s not what they think the logic is

Physical damage they worry about (since they can get in trouble for that), but they never give a damn about the longterm psychological it does to the kid. I know from experience.
