Perhaps. I'm not going to sacrifice my family's or my health and happiness. The point of all this is to enhance our lives and the lives of our descendants. We protest when we can; we phone our Representatives and Senators often; we write often. If that's not good enough for some, too bad, so sad.

I’m reminded of stories my mom told about her experience as a young girl during WW2. Mom, my aunt, and the women and children of their church all sacrificed time and effort together, putting together care packages for families in Europe who were displaced by bombing, feeling fortunate that they were untouched by the worst aspects of the war. 3/5

The point is, while everyone can’t be expected to attend every protest or sacrifice their jobs to take part in the war against fascism; everyone who cares about democracy is obligated to make sacrifices of time, energy, and money when possible. Figure out how to do this as a family. 4/5

It’s a lesson your children will, in gratitude, never forget. Hopefully they’ll pass it along to their children. Sorry to get so long-winded! 5/5
