this tracks with my fanfic:
I wonder how many Peaky Blinder fans have gone to this show expecting a hard-hitting play about Brummie gangsters.
Rambert: First Blood.
And I thought the Peaky Blinders Cookbook was the limit. I too thought that was the name of an actor.
Honestly thought Rambert Dance was the name of the actor, rather than a dance company. They could have made that clearer. On an unrelated topic I'm considering adopting Rambert Dance as my psuedonym.
Use a pseudonym? You? Seems a bit far fetched.
Had to google it as well to ensure I didn’t offend old Rambert!
Charles' son.
Same. Have I ever told you about the night I was in the band for a Peaky Blinders themed event in Newport?
I'm going to settle in for this
OK, it was an 'immersive experience'. The punters were in 1920s gear, and the event was run by actors who stayed in character through the night. There were staged fights in the bar and everything. A 1920s style dance band was there and I was on drums.
Staged fights? In Newport? Can't folk just look out of the window?
We memorised which ones were actors in case we needed to get our gear to safety.
The Arthur one was in charge. Midway through the evening, the food came out. He stopped the music, took the mic and said in the most violent Midlands accent I've ever heard "ROIGHT, the food's coming out. We've got PULLED PORK ROLLS, fish and chips, AND A VARIETY OF VEGETARIAN AND VEGAN OPTIONS."
Didn't drop character for a moment. It was superb. Then later, he walked outside with a carton of chips for a quiet moment. One of the bouncers, a big lad who could have pummeled him, asked "Are you in character or on a break?" "On a break." "In that case, can I have a chip?"
Just glorious
It was a good night. I'm quite fond of Newport in many ways.
The target, cross-over audience of people who still have Argos-bought Tommy Shelby wall art in 2025 and fans of modern, interpretative dance is probably quite small.
