I used Planned Parenthood while I was in college for basic gyn care. I met a 29 yr old woman who was diagnosed with stage 4 cervical cancer because she hadn't had a pap smear. She died from it 6 months later

I went to PP for reproductive Healthcare for about 4 years when I was in college. Indispensable in so many ways.
My GP “doesn’t treat things like perimenopause” because the network they are in doesn’t believe in treating it. They don’t BELIEVE in treating it. So they won’t do tests. Won’t give advice. Won’t do anything. Planned Parenthood is my only viable resource, and they are always fantastic.

Listen up, you whores. The most common service provided at Planned Parenthood is STD/STI testing. 97% services have nothing to do with abortion. In some communities, it's the only place to get prenatal care. Before ACA, it was a clinic where you could get treatment without insurance & be billed.
Um, AFTER the ACA it's still a place where you can get treatment without insurance and without being billed. Although that said - Planned Parenthood DOES take many private insurance plans, and using them as your provider even if you can pay helps support them over-all.
When I first moved away from home, I didn’t have health insurance. Planned Parenthood diagnosed me with pre-cancerous cells. Thank goodness for them!
