It's a separate argument. The US has definitely failed with its tax policies; it doesn't change the fact that the US has both a deeply ingrained car culture combined with the most robust air travel infrastructure in the world. It doesn't make sense to spend money on a problem that doesn't exist
I think it makes sense when the environment is collapsing around us. They definitely need to invest in car charging networks & renewable energies. Radical changes are going to be necessary. Not doing it means certain failure. But I guess people don’t care because they ‘won’t be here’ when it happens
