This is going to take a fundamental shift in agriculture in the US. No more growing corn for ethanol, soy beans for export, no more cash crops.

I saw a documentary about African Americans trying to preserve their food culture from the times of slavery and then Manumission. It was mostly plant-based, home grown in tiny gardens and flavoured with things like native herbs eg wild garlic etc. Very inspiring & knowledge you might need now
